What games are worth playing these days
Many people do not want to play games as they think it’s a waste of time, but what games are fun and worth playing? Today I’ll interview my friend Sebastian who has over 3000 hours in many different games. 1000 of these hours he has spent grinding (repeating the same action in order to progress). For many this can seem like a waste of time, but there are more reasons others like it. This is why it’s so hard to find a game that you will enjoy. Something that can help here is asking others.
Interviewer: Hi Sebastian, how is your day?
Sebastian: Hi, I’m doing ok.
So, what games do you play?
Sebastian: I mainly play War thunder and Minecraft, andoccasionally other smaller ones like Portal or CSGO (counter-strike global offensive)
In Minecraft, your style is more creative (infinite materials) or survival (collect in order to use)?
I play more survival, mostly multiplayer.
With your friends or minigames?
Both, but I probably have more hours on mini-games.
What mini-games?
In the past, I used to play pvp (player versus player) mini-games like Bedwars but now I stick to Skyblock (which is a very grindy game).
How much time does it take to complete Skyblock?
It is impossible to complete Skyblock, but theoretically if you managed to unlock and complete everything there is to complete it would probably take you around 12,000 hours (1.5 years of nonstop playing).
And how much does it take to ender Late-game (in games that do not end it is the point when you unlocked everything)?
For the average player it would take 700 – 900h.
Is it still fun to play a game like this?
Mostly no… But it’s addictive.
And in War Thunder? How much time does it take to enter late game (get top tier, which are the best vehicles in game)?
For an average player from their first time playing to top tier without spending real money around 1400 – 2000 hours, it really depends on skill.
And how much time does it take to complete the game (max out one nation, unlock everything one nation has to offer)?
I wouldn’t call that completing the game, but around 2000h since top tier will do everything for you because you get a XP multiplier the higher you go etc.
You mentioned you play Portal. It is a level game not a grindy one (a game which has levels with no need to collect any materials). How does that compare?
Yes, Portal is completed faster and is more interesting, and not repetitive since every level is different.
But it will end faster compared to grindy games?
Oh yes.
And what do you think about spee-drunning (trying to complete the came or a objective as fast as possible)?
I think that it is a great activity for experienced players in a game when they have completed everything but still want to play it.
And what do you think about p2w (pay-to-win, paying to get a significant advantage over other players)?
I think that it’s a desperate attempt at making money by a game company. After some time it usually never ends well and results in the game’s decline or end.
And one last question, does a game have to be realistic?
No it does not, but you get more pleasure playing it. I don’t think it affects how addictive it is.
Thank you for answering my questions.
No problem, I’m happy to help people understand which games are worth playing.
