The European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Brussels: a life-changing experience
The European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS) in Brussels was a life-changing experience during which we learnt so much.
We firstly took part in another example of a science conference, giving us real life insights into the fields which we hold so much interest in. Thanks to this, we were able to meet people who were experienced in their respective fields, with whom we were able to talk, in order to gain a deeper understanding of what they did. On top of this, it was a unique educational experience, as we were able to listen to and look at the projects which were presented, spreading over a wide range of themes, allowing us to realise all the possibilities which science has to offer. Lastly, and most importantly in our opinions, we got to meet brilliant people who were around our age and who shared the same interests as us.
Not only did we get to know their projects and their academic sides, but we also got to know them as people, spending time with them outside of the contest’s context (visiting the city and enjoying the time we had with them). The memories which we have taken back to Karlsruhe are irreplicable. It is an experience which we will never forget.
